Zambia's envoy for Australia His Excellency Elias Munshya and Mr. Chella Tukuta serving as Press Secretary in Brazil are more of Social Media Celebrities than Diplomats of our Country.

The two are not the only ones serving as envoys for the Republic of Zambia neither are they the first ones to serve in similar capacities. We have had several people who have represented the Country in high profile positions but little do we get to hear about them.

Rather than concentrating on their foreign assignments wooing investors and marketing the potential of our Country, the two individuals spend their precious time posting their photos and showing off the beauty of their offices.

Ambassador Elias Munshya is always on his Facebook page updating the nation about his Dress - Code, Office attire, Training sessions and tend to overwhelm us with his Family issues which are mundane and futile to most of us in the Country.

While there is nothing wrong in posting one's achievements and personal accomplishments, foreign Diplomats are tutored to operate and behave within the stipulated confinements.

That is the more reason why we have a Diplomatic School meant to train those appointed to serve in foreign service. Diplomats are taught to align themselves within prescribed Ettiquettes, Protocols, Ethics, Procedures and Guildelines that are befitting.

It is unethical, unprofessional and immature for Mr. Chella Tukuta to be in direct confrontation with some local musicians. A fortnight ago, Mr. Tukuta posted a video were he was dressed in a gown portraying himself as a homosexual. The general public is left wondering whether these foreign Diplomats have much time to waste.

As an empoverished Country, we can not afford wasting our resources paying huge sums of monies on people who are busy glandizing and showing off their material wellbeing on the expense of our depleted economy.

We call upon the appointing Authority to strongly caution the two 'Political Celebrities' to tone down and behave decently. Diplomats must uphold the expected decorum and should be able to conduct themselves above reproach.
